Privacy policy
WinDock is a local macOS application for creating and running Windows virtual machines on Apple Silicon Macs. This page explains the app's local processing, purchase handling, and optional external services.
For the separate WinDock EXE compatibility app, read the WinDock EXE privacy supplement. The virtual-machine details below describe WinDock, not WinDock EXE.
Local app data
WinDock processes the ISO files, virtual-machine disks, settings, and folders you select on your Mac. The app does not upload your virtual-machine disks or shared documents to a WinDock cloud service.
WinDock does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. Local app settings include trial and access state, preferences, and diagnostic information used to operate and troubleshoot the app.
Shared files and permissions
Folders you authorize can be made available to Windows and applications running inside the virtual machine. Those applications may read or change shared files, or send data over the internet according to their own behavior and privacy policies.
Choose shared folders carefully and review permissions in WinDock settings. External folders remain subject to macOS permissions and drive availability.
Trial and in-app purchases
Trial activation, lifetime purchases, and purchase restoration use Apple's StoreKit and App Store services. WinDock processes the transaction and entitlement information supplied by Apple to determine access, and keeps relevant access state locally.
Payment details are handled by Apple. WinDock does not receive your complete payment-card details. Apple's account and purchase processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Network connections
Local services support VM display, file sharing, clipboard, and other integration. Windows and apps running in the VM can make their own network connections.
Choosing to get Windows may open Microsoft's download page. Choosing to download source materials opens the public source package. These actions connect to external services; downloading source materials is not required to install or run Windows in WinDock.
This website and source downloads
These static pages do not include advertising or analytics scripts. Website and download hosting providers may process request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, and browser information to deliver and secure their services.
The public source download is hosted using Cloudflare services. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for information about its processing. This page does not set a specific retention period for provider-managed logs.
Support messages and diagnostics
If you email support, you provide your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send so the support request can be handled. Diagnostic files may contain device details, local paths, and error information. Review them and remove sensitive material before sharing.
Do not send passwords, activation keys, payment-card information, or an entire virtual-machine disk. Contact support if you have questions about information you previously shared.
Windows and other providers
Windows, Microsoft accounts, and guest applications are provided by their respective providers. Their data processing is separate from WinDock and subject to their own terms and privacy policies. WinDock does not include Windows installation media or activation keys.
WinDock EXE privacy supplement
This supplement applies to WinDock EXE, a separate local compatibility app with a built-in Wine engine. It does not create a Windows virtual machine. The website/hosting and voluntary support-message sections above also apply to WinDock EXE.
Files, environments and local diagnostics
Imported EXE/MSI files, installed programs, per-app environments, library names and order, settings, and run logs are stored and processed locally on your Mac. The launcher does not automatically upload these files or logs to the author or an external service. WinDock EXE does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
The App Store edition uses a separately signed sandboxed helper and the team's shared App Group to exchange launch requests and access local environments. This local exchange is not a cloud upload. Windows applications you choose to run may access available files, change their environment, and make their own network connections. Only run trusted software; a per-app environment is not a guarantee that untrusted software is harmless.
Deleting an application removes its local environment and files inside it. Back up files you need first. Preferences, directory caches and trial/access records may remain separately; deleting or reinstalling an app is not a promise to reset a trial or erase every record.
Trial and purchase records
The App Store edition uses Apple's StoreKit for the free seven-day trial, the separate lifetime purchase and restoration. WinDock EXE processes Apple-provided verified product, transaction, purchase-date and entitlement information to determine access, and retains relevant access state locally. Trial timing uses the original verified purchase date; a pre-existing trial is not extended by migration or restoration. The Developer ID edition maintains its local trial record, including a Keychain record in release builds.
Apple handles account authentication and payment information. WinDock EXE does not receive your complete payment-card details or Apple Account password. Apple's processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy. WinDock EXE does not send purchase records to a separate author-operated purchase server.
More Apps, icons and external websites
The More Apps directory can request https://models.aiviel.app/config/apps.json. App details are looked up through itunes.apple.com using directory app identifiers and the device's region setting; artwork can be loaded from Apple's mzstatic.com hosts. Service icons can be loaded from validated HTTPS addresses in the directory. Validated directory details are cached locally, with a bundled offline fallback.
These network requests expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, requested resource and request time, to the receiving hosting or service provider. They do not include your imported EXE contents, local documents or run logs. This policy does not promise a specific retention period for provider-managed request logs.
External service links open in your browser after confirmation. Opening a website connects to that provider; files, prompts or account information you later submit there are governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy. WinDock EXE does not automatically submit your local files to those services.
Support and questions
Diagnostic logs may contain application names, device details, local paths and errors. Review them and remove private information before voluntarily sending excerpts or screenshots to support. Do not send credentials, license keys or an entire environment. WinDock EXE support instructions explain what to include.
